Austin and Melissa from Jessica Overholt on Vimeo.
The silly, sweet and contagious love that was so apparent between Melissa and Austin was truly the center of this beautiful wedding - but you still couldn't help but notice ALL the pretty things....
From them soft romantic arch, that we were happy to custom create for them to the rich and rosy linens, and the gold undertones this is one of our favorites! The touches of color were purposeful, and all to pull together their overall wedding look. From their invitations, the the draping on the arch - everything was with intent. We loved designing for these two - we started with an inspiration photo and ended up with a wedding, that in my opinion, is one for the books! Sincerest Thank you to some of my favorites... But, there is no denying that he stole the show (at least before the bride made her appearance) at this Philadelphia wedding we planned last fall! My brother and his now wife learned that it is both a perk, and a pain to have a sister in law who is a wedding planner, and for all intents and purposes obsessed with the career that she loves! We planned every detail together and there were even a few things that the bride left up to me (which is truly a planners dream). The inspiration came from a photo of menswear - the look which the groom wore for the wedding. Tiny bits of polka dots here and there, navy gold and deep reds, purples and rich greenery. Oh, and candles - lot's of candles and soft romantic lighting. The Venue was the historic Water Works in Philadelphia - and it did not disappoint. The views were To. Die. For. It gave the guests just a touch of city, with water views and a historical ambiance that could not be duplicated. Not only was it a beautiful wedding, it was DELICIOUS. The food, let's talk about the FOOD!!! This was unique for me - as I was not "allowed" per the bride and groom to work at this wedding - so I had my team flown in to oversee things when I was off enjoying the day with my family. From the moment we stepped off the trolley onto the grounds, we were welcomed with champagne (you know I love it), lobster tails, jumbo crab - you name it. That was just the beginning - this gluttonous display continued through the night with a ridiculously large dessert display, passed chip-which sammy's (the brides fav) and more that I am sure that I didn't even know was there! Thank god the band was AMAZING and had an energy that was unparalleled (so we could work off some of those cals!! When we weren't eating -we were dancing the night away with a confetti cannon to seal the deal and send everyone on their way to enjoy the city of brotherly love. Pantone is spot on with their color of the year - PANTONE 18-3838, Ultra Violet. The energy that this color adds to your palette cannot be denied, and is really something special. I so enjoy playing with new color combinations, textures and looks for my events, and this color will surely make an appearance on a table scape or two! I think the best thing to take away from their color choice for 2018 is that taking risks with your palette is ok, even encouraged in my world. I don't want to plan the same event twice - let's make your wedding or event stand apart, be memorable and reflective of the energy you want your party to convey! There are LOADS of ways to bring in color, even if you are going for a more minimalistic look. Play with Linens, flowers, stationary, the possibilities are endless, especially when working with people who know the options and who to work with to achieve your dream vision.
